Summary:

Four mythical treasures with unimaginable power. One woman with the ability to use them. Two groups locked in an ancient battle to secure them. A love that cannot be denied.

Avery Conner goes to Ireland seeking answers from her dying mother, but destiny has other plans. With an ancient prophecy hanging in the balance, she is plunged into a battle between the Faerie Court and the New World Foundation for Celtic Studies for control of the Four Treasures— the Stone of Destiny, the Sword, the Spear, and the Caldron.

Kalen, a Faerie Prince, must deliver Avery Conner to the Faerie Court at any cost. Haunted by past mistakes, Avery is a complication he doesn’t need — but after sharing one forbidden kiss, he can’t deny their otherworldly connection.

Torn between the known and unknown, Avery must decide whom to trust: the Foundation, or Kalen, who is as jaded as he is irresistible.

My Thoughts:

I got this book from author in exchange for an honest review. All thought here are my own. Marked by Destiny is one of those books which I liked and didn’t like at the same time. It had some unanswered questions in the end and that was quite not good, but mostly it was fun, amazing, full of action and interesting characters. The book had everything and by that I mean everything. It had funny and witty moments, action moments and even a good chunk of chemistry between characters perfectly woven into it.

The story is a stand alone, and that kind of broke my heart because I really wanted a second book to know what will happen to characters I actually became strongly attached to. But as Lisa promised there will be a second book but with different characters in it. The story follows Avery to Ireland where she is to say goodbye to her dying mom. When coming to Ireland she is stalked by a mysterious man and her new boss is making all attempts to make her stay in Ireland. Her mother is as always keeping secrets and soon everything is going to change. When Avery’s mom is murdered and the murderer is coming for her she is rescued by her mysterious stalker. They share a connection which drives both of them crazy, but while Avery has no idea what’s going on, Kalen aka mysterious stalker is kind of the cause of it all. Whom should Avery trust: a guy who she falling in love with or he best friend and former boss? Will she make a choice that will lead to destruction of a magical race or her own? Well, that’s for you to know. All I have to say is: interested? Garb your copy now!

But I think I didn’t disclose one thing, did I? There are Faeries in the book. Yep, our only and only immortal faeries, with their Seelie and Unseelie courts, their intrigues and their own interesting betrayals. So, I highly suggest this book, because it’s a good read, which will suck you into it in no time.

To be totally fair, I will list my two concern questions. You can either read them or not, that’s for you to decide, but they do not contain spoilers.

  1.            So, what are Avery’s powers? I mean no demonstration? That sucked!
  2.           So, does the queen have a plan B, C, D…? they always do, do I just want to know what is really going on and what will happen next!

Did I disclose something too spoilery? I hope not. And I hope you will consider adding this book to your TBR list and taking a day to read it. Happy reading! And don’t forget to share your thoughts!!!

xoxo
